Mission Not Accomplished Yet
Tony and Don Still Have Work to Do
TODAY’S RAMBLINGS
<2 Minute Read
Editor’s Note: I wrote a lot of this on Monday. Reading the news now early Wednesday morning, I am afraid what I say below may prove correct.
Judging by the angst my failure to sufficiently morn Charlie Kirk caused some, I better be careful here. Plus, I am drawing on my decades complete lack of diplomatic experience, so there’s that, too.
So I will begin by saying congratulations, Dear Leader, for your role in getting peace - for now - in Gaza and the greater Middle East. It is not unreasonable nor gratuitous to say only Trump could have twisted the war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu‘s arm to the extent necessary to get this process started.
But holy shit, it is not over. So first, Don, calm the fuck down. Yes, you and your partner in crime Bibi have taken out Assad in Syria and neutered Iran. Yes, Saudi Arabia and Qatar want to continue to whitewash their atrocities by throwing a ton of money around and sounding normal - you know, saying women can now drive cars and things like that.
And yes, Tony Blair has crafted one hell of a peace plan.
But take a look at the photo above.
And OMFG we are talking about relations between Muslims and Jews. Is it going to surprise anyone if there are a few rockets lobbed at Israel from . . . somewhere? Granted, and through largely barbaric methods, Israel has taken out or severely weakened a majority of their primary adversaries, but still.
And how will Israel - really, Netanyahu and his fellow segregationists - react when that happens?
Yet I can’t be the only one to recall that the vile terrorism on October 7 was itself a response to what was then a likely normalization of relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel.
The problem has been that one side in this mess has for a very long time demanded nothing less than the complete and total elimination of the other side.
And no, that’s not about Netanyahu committing what looks a lot like genocide in Gaza now.
No, it has been the steadfast refusal by many Palestinians/Arabs/Persians/Muslims to ever accept Israel as a neighbor and nation. The Jewish settlements in the West Bank have never helped, and Netanyahu is the worst. But the Palestinian Authority, when it used to exist, had several legitimate opportunities over the years to make peace with Israel, and never took the chance.
Now? While I again and sincerely congratulate Trump on what would be a monumental triumph, let’s pump the brakes.
Because we’ve previously seen an overconfident President believe a war to be over.
When it wasn’t. And will the boy in this picture ever feel the war is over?
Not without dignity for him, his family, and his friends and neighbors.
And Dear Leader and Bibi are going to facilitate that, with Gulf State money?
What could go wrong?
FROM THE UNWASHED MASSES
This is from the EV fanboy site Electrek:
Maybe Musk can send some to Gaza, too, so they’ll have something to drive during reconstruction?
Whoops - no electricity in Gaza.
And I am shocked - just shocked - these aren’t selling better. After all, they’re so attractive and so practical. I mean, what else on the market shouts, “I am a modern, smart person!” like a Tesla Cybertruck?
No problem - one of Musk’s lackeys has a solution; this is from the same article in Electrek.
Wes Morrill, the Cybertruck lead engineer, commented on the delivery and said that SpaceX, along with Tesla, is replacing its support fleet with the Cybertruck:
(I would) Love to see the ICE support fleets get replaced with Cybertruck. When we were engineering it, this was always part of the vision.
Perfect. Masked Federal agents, armed to the teeth, driving around in Musk’s grotesque wet dream.
Full disclosure: That is a picture I created with Google’s Gemini AI, as evidenced by the watermark logo on the lower right side. Going forward, I will either leave AI watermarks in place and/or disclose pictures I know are fake.
So that is a fake picture - but for how long?
Thank you for reading this newsletter.
